Associate Professor/Assistant Professor
The Department of Economics (http://www.LN.edu.hk/econ/) is a multi-cultural community of academics dedicated to excellence in teaching and research. Its undergraduate teaching takes place within the University's inter-disciplinary social sciences programme, where students can opt for different discipline compositions and orientations in their studies. The Department also offers MPhil and PhD degrees in economics, as well as a taught programme of MSc in International Banking and Finance.
The Department invites applications from candidates specializing in any field of economics. Expertise in international economics, applied econometrics, financial economics, or money and banking will be an advantage, as the Department has developed a thriving research environment in the areas.
Applicants should have a PhD degree in relevant discipline and a good record of publications with reputable journals. The successful candidates are expected to teach and to provide research supervision to undergraduates and postgraduates across a range of subject areas in economics. For appointment as an Associate Professor, applicants should have at least five years of relevant experience and a sound track record in research and scholarly activities. For appointment as an Assistant Professor, applicants should have relevant teaching experience and a good research record.
Applicants are required to provide information on their research records and evidence of quality teaching. Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential.
Conditions of Appointment
The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The rank and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity, housing benefits and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointees.
Appointments will normally be made on an initial contract of three years, which, subject to review and mutual agreement, are renewable for longer-term appointments or substantiation.
