West Virginia University is seeking an economist to work collaboratively with other Bureau of Business and Economic Research (BBER) economists and affiliated faculty on extramurally funded economic research projects. These economic research projects are largely economic forecasting projects but may include economic impacts, labor market, health, economic development, industry analysis, public finance and other related research areas. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): basic economic research using advanced economic theory and research methodologies; design and preparation of data from surveys, internet, and other sources; preparation of graphics and presentations using predetermined programs/project standards and requirements; preparation of written reports, research monographs, and scholarly articles including project reports and BBER publications; maintenance of BBER economic research databases; provision of data and analysis in response to internal and external clients' data requests; project management for special studies; and public presentations and responses to press inquiries.

Required skills and abilities include: demonstrated ability to apply economic theory and research methodologies, create economic forecasts, strong written and oral communication skills, and advanced knowledge of economic forecasting software. Knowledge of IMPLAN, ArcView, and econometric software programs such as SAS, EViews, and Stata is highly desirable. M.A., M.S., or PhD in Economics, or comparable experience, preferred.
