Core research areas of the Department are Macroeconomics and Economic Policy and Applied Microeconomics. It is the ambition of the Department that our research environment is perceived as among the best within business-related, applied economics in Europe. Teaching obligations of the Department comprise undergraduate and graduate teaching in economics at various programmes at the CBS, including the Department's graduate programme of Applied Economics and Finance and the elite-education (MSc) in Advanced Economics and Finance.
Research infrastructure, travel support and access to data at the Department of Economics are highly competitive. CBS has an annual intake of around 2500 undergraduate students and 2100 graduate students. Around 200 students specialize in Economics and Finance. The current number of PhD students at Department of Economics is eleven.
Examples of research areas that the assistant professor could cover:
--Household economics and finance
--Macroeconomics and economic policy
CBS has or plans to have special cross-disciplinary platforms for research and teaching within four different areas: sustainability, public-private collaboration, competitiveness, and entrepreneurship. Applications that link to these areas are particularly welcome.
The assistant professorship is a four year tenure track position in accordance with Danish legislation and CBS regulations. Decision on tenure is taken after three-four years.
To fulfil the research requirements of the position, the applicant(s) chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Department. The successful applicant will participate in a special CBS development program on teaching principles and methods in order to fulfil the pedagogical requirements imposed at the end of the term of employment as assistant professor.
--Research, including responsibility for the academic development of the relevant discipline
--Responsibility for publishing, scientific communication and research-based teaching
--Active participation in the regular research activities, such as research seminars, workshops, and conferences.
--Teaching, preparation and participation in examinations at CBS
--Educational development within the core area of Business Economics and other relevant assignments at CBS
--Contribution to administrative responsibilities
The applicant must hold a PhD or the equivalent. Emphasis is placed on the applicant's research potential, which means that a researcher with a large research potential may be preferred to a researcher with a large research production.

CBS Department of Economics will interview potential candidates for the above position(s) at the AEA Meeting in San Diego, CA, January 4-6, 2013. Based on the interviews, the Department will invite a number of interviewees to submit electronic applications and invite those to visit CBS campus for job seminars and dialogues with their potential future colleagues. An assessment committee will determine whether the applicants are qualified and the Head of the Department will suggest to the CBS-wide Appointments Committee which candidates should be hired. Decisions are expected to be communicated to the selected candidates by the end of February 2013.
