Statement of Purpose

As a result of my thirteen years of teaching experience at the collegiate level, I have had the opportunity to adopt, and continue to polish, a teaching approach that both engages and motivates students to desire to learn the concepts within the field of economics. Because of my own passion for economics, I strive to facilitate the understanding and appreciation for the discipline.
For example my primary goal in the principles of macroeconomics course is to help undergraduate students learn how to think more clearly about the effects of monetary and fiscal policy for all citizens of the USA. Another key objective is to promote basic economic literacy so that a typical student completing his or her final exam can be a better citizen, and live a more productive and fulfilling life. My ideas for the principles of effective teaching of economics have been shaped by observing my own economics and statistics professors.
