|Subject:||We are pleased to announce the programme of this international workshop, bringing together historians interested in consumption and standards of living since the eighteenth century, whether from an economic, social or cultural perspective. Areas in which proposals would be welcome include: - Using consumption evidence in research on living standards - The cultural meanings of consumption of different goods - Consumption as a marker of class: respectability, emulation or pride in difference? - Consumption and the construction of gender identities.
