The University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for the position of Director of the Institute of Behavioral Science (IBS), a leading interdisciplinary research institute dedicated to advancing innovative social and behavioral science.
We seek an accomplished scholar with an outstanding record of research, teaching, and service that qualifies for appointment as Professor with tenure at CU Boulder. The successful candidate will have demonstrated administrative and research leadership, a strong commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, and the ability to articulate and implement a strategic vision for a large, externally funded research institute.
IBS includes approximately 400 affiliated faculty, researchers, staff, postdoctoral scholars, and students, and manages an annual research portfolio of approximately $40 million. The Director provides intellectual and administrative leadership, fosters interdisciplinary research and training, supports faculty and student development, strengthens partnerships with external stakeholders, and maintains an active, externally funded research program.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in a social or behavioral science or a closely related field. Review of applications will begin September 1, 2026, and continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2027.
