The University of Utah invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Science (CSBS). The Dean will serve in the College's key leadership role for a five-year renewable term, commencing July 1, 2014. The College is composed of seven academic departments: Anthropology, Economics, Family and Consumer Studies, Geography, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology. We seek a Dean with a record of distinction as a scholar and administrator suitable for tenure at the rank of Professor in one of these departments. The Dean will lead a diverse and collegial faculty that includes internationally prominent researchers, outstanding scholars and a dedicated, professional staff. University administration will work in partnership with the Dean to develop the college's collective mission and promote the success of the College's faculty, students, and staff.

The successful candidate must have innovative ideas for supporting enhanced student engagement, creativity and discovery in undergraduate and graduate education and for the translation of student success into new educational and career opportunities. He/she will have a distinguished record as a scholar and educator and a commitment to promoting the success of CSBS faculty by increasing College resources through fundraising and supporting extramurally-funded research. Strong administrative skills, a commitment to the role of faculty in college governance, dedication to public service, and the ability to build loyalty and support among alumni and in the local community are also required. This position presents the opportunity for a creative leader to build upon enhanced institutional visibility and energy created by the University's membership in the PAC-12 conference.
