The Centre for International Governance Innovation is a global think tank based in Waterloo, ON. CIGI conducts policy oriented research on a wide range of international governance issues, including the global economy, energy and environment, development and global security. CIGI is a dynamic and innovative organization of leading researchers, policy practitioners and other professionals.

Overview:
The PM is the senior staff reporting to the program Director, Global Economy (GE). This individual will provide timely and informed execution of the business aspects of program's own projects and activities. Cultivating positive relationships with potential partners and donors, the incumbent will have professional skills that permit extensive and intensive efforts to identify, to evaluate, and to advise program management about opportunities for substantive program partnerships, research collaborations, and external funding support. This individual also will have oversight of program's project budgets and disbursements, tracking inputs and outputs utilizing their project management experience, in cooperation with the Director and the principal investigators for each project or activity. The PM also will facilitate efficient and effective relations between the GE program and other departments, serving as a liaison with Finance and Public Affairs units.

Specific Responsibilities:
--Oversee the management, budgeting, administration and implementation of the GE program's core activities
--Help coordinate and manage the interface between GE program staff and senior and distinguished fellows associated with the same program
--Develop a monitoring system to track deliverables of program research and staff members
--Liaise with Finance units on program's budget and financial matters
--Assist in identifying new outreach initiatives, formats and venues to showcase the program's research and policy output
--Liaise with Public Affairs units in the organization of program's workshops, conferences and other events, and in other outreach activities spearheaded by the program itself
--Liaise with external partners in the organization of various events, including high-profile gatherings (ie INET and International Economic Association annual conferences)
--Assist the director of GE program and his research staff in securing external sources of funding from government, private and non-profit sectors and help with the management of external relations with key donors.
--Design a strategy to identify potential donors, write funding proposals and ensure related follow-ups. In doing so, he or she develops materials such as requests for proposals( RFPs), letter of intent, memorandums of understanding
--Develop timelines for granting process and ensure its operational effectiveness and efficiency
--Respond to administrative questions from applicants/grantees/finance
--Manage the program Director's daily schedule and assist him on various administrative tasks as needed

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required:
--Must have an undergraduate degree, preferably a graduate or professional degree, and preferably in a related field
--Minimum of 5 years experience as a development and administration manager/senior officer or equivalent directing and overseeing daily operations at some combination of think tank, research institute, funding or granting council, foundation or university
--Interest on public policies and a demonstrated ability to quickly and effective absorb complex issues is an asset.
--Ability to develop and execute a strategic approach to building relationships and securing support from outside partners and donors
--Knowledge of, and familiarity with, Canadian provincial and federal research policies and guidelines would be an asset
--Ability to prepare and to analyze financial documents, including project spreadsheets and budgets
--Ability to reconcile anticipated with actual expenditures
--Ability to analyze legal documents
--Experience with, or at least awareness of, foreign (non-Canadian) research and think tank communities, as well as foreign research granting sources
--Project management skills
--Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Excel
--Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), interpersonal skills and organizational skills
--Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with others
--Excellent detail oriented skills
--Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive documents simultaneously
--Ability to work with and to secure confidential materials
