Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) is a global think tank based in Waterloo, Ontario. Created in 2001, it conducts policy research on international governance issues, including the global economy, energy and environment, development and global security. CIGI has openings for 2 full-time resident Research Fellow positions carrying a one year contract with a possible extension of an additional year.
Reporting to the Director, Global Economy, each Research Fellow will contribute to the design and implementation of the program research and policy analysis, including some related administrative tasks. The program's activities cover global economic governance issues -- including the G20, multilateral financial institutions and international monetary relations -- and their intersection with the global economy. Successful candidates are also expected to participate and be engaged in program's broader activities, such as, for instance, seminars and conferences.
Of the 2 openings, one position requires specialized knowledge of economic analysis/econometrics; the other position requires specialized knowledge in international political economy/global economic governance. Prior, related research experience is preferred.
--Designing and undertaking innovative, policy-oriented research, as part of the program's current work plan as well as contributing to the program�s future research agenda.
--Publishing peer-reviewed journal articles, books, working papers, policy briefs, blogs and short commentaries targeted to academics, policy makers, and the general public.
--Tracking policy developments in relevant areas
--To assist with the organization of conferences, workshops, seminars and the administration of other, related activities as required in consultation with the Director of Global Economy
--Engaging in related outreach activities
--Supervising and providing mentorship for Research Associates

--Knowledge and understanding of key research issues on the global economy, international financial architecture, international monetary relations and global economic governance
--Excellent command of the English language, both spoken and written

--PhD degree from a recognized graduate program with specialization in one or more of economics, econometrics, global governance, political science, and international relations
--Previous research experience is highly desirable in the form of a post-doctoral fellowship, a contractually limited appointment at a university, a position in government, or a professional appointment in a relevant non-governmental organization
