The Department of Economics at Beloit College invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning fall semester 2013. The successful candidate would be appointed to the Neese Chair. The Neese chair oversees our annual Upton Forum, a week-long residency of a distinguished economist. Responsibilities include inviting each year’s Upton Scholar, teaching a senior seminar building upon the work of that scholar, and editing an Annual Proceedings. Evidence of a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship is a must, and some experience at the level of Assistant Professor or its equivalent is required. Teaching responsibilities also may include courses in quantitative methods, international economics, microeconomics, economics of race, gender, and ethnicity, international business, public economics, economic history, law and economics, behavioral economics, and area studies such as Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and India. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to all-college programs, such as first- and second-year seminars, interdisciplinary studies, and/or international education. Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. in economics.
