The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) Africa based at the University of Cape Town (UCT) is pleased to announce a Post-Doctoral Fellowship for 2013-2015. The successful candidate is expected to engage in a research agenda that is in line with J-PAL's Urban Service Initiative (USI) objectives and priorities.
USI funds randomized evaluations of innovation solutions to the problem of inadequate access to water, sanitation, and hygiene services to the urban poor in Asia and Africa. The main emphasis is on micro-solutions that can help to understand and address important barriers to the urban poor's access to required services.
The Fellowship is open to a candidate who has achieved a PhD in Economics or other relevant field in the last 5 years. The applicant should show research interest and experience in development economics and impact evaluation, in particular in issues related to urban service delivery in developing countries. Significant applied econometrics skills are expected. The successful candidate will partner with J-PAL affiliates and implementing agencies to conduct one or more USI-funded experimental research projects.
