The Vermont Department of Taxes is seeking an economist responsible for leading our work in revenue forecasting, analyzing policy initiatives for fiscal effect, and performing economic and fiscal studies as part of our Policy, Outreach and Legislative Affairs team. The economist serves as an advisor to the Commissioner of Tax, and provides regular reports to the Governor's office, the Commissioner of Finance and Operations, and the legislature. The economist collaborates with the state and legislative economist, as well as other administrative branch and legislative economists and analysts, and interacts with policymakers throughout government. The economist must possess the professional skills to balance the policy role within the administration with the duty to provide accurate, non-partisan information to the legislature and the public.
The position requires excellent analytical and communication skills; facility with statistical modeling techniques, quantitative research and large data sets; and the ability to analyze complex legislation. PhD in economics or related field is preferable.
Location: Montpelier. Status: Full-Time, Exempt Position.
