FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Social Science at New York City College of Technology of The City University of New York invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Economics to begin Fall 2013. City Tech, a comprehensive college offering associate and baccalaureate degrees, currently enrolls over 16,000 students and is located in downtown Brooklyn. The department is dedicated to promoting student success and encourages its faculty to become involved in innovative educational approaches such as mentoring student research and learning communities. The position requires teaching, student advisement, curriculum development, college service, and active research and scholarship. The successful applicant must demonstrate the ability to teach both introductory microeconomics and macroeconomics courses, as well as courses in courses in money and banking and/or environmental economics. The position also offers opportunities for interdisciplinary work and collaboration with faculty in the Schools of Arts & Sciences, Professional Studies, and Technology & Design. Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. required. Teaching experience at the college level is required and the candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to quality undergraduate teaching and learning. Experience with diverse student populations in urban settings is desired. The successful candidate will have an active research program and demonstrate a strong potential for scholarship. Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
