The successful candidate will focus on conducting comparative research in the field of international migration, publishing his/her results in internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals and making presentations. His/her responsibilities will also include participation in the conceptual supervision of the DICE database expansion, as well as the acquisition, design, management and realisation of research projects. Opportunities exist for working with external economists and the position offers the opportunity of acquiring a Habilitation.

The successful candidate will need a very good doctorate in economics and in-depth knowledge and experience in the field of migration or economic regulation, which is documented by articles in reputable peer-reviewed journals (or in articles suitable for publication). Experience in applying econometric methods, as well as excellent English language skills are also essential. The successful candidate must also be able to use the specialist software (Stata, Matlab) employed in this field of research.

Compensation and benefits are based on the German public service pay scale (TV-L). The contract will initially be limited to a period of 3 years (with an option to extend). Women are expressly encouraged to apply and Ifo welcomes applications from the handicapped.
