Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry (RIETI) is interested in hiring new Ph.D. researchers in economics. RIETI expects the potential candidates to carry out high-quality empirical research in the field of economic policy, industrial policy, trade policy, macroeconomics, international economies and industrial organization. RIETI encourages extensive policy research and formulation of policy recommendations as its primary duty. RIETI offers annual salary, competitive with that of an academic position. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in economics (including those scheduled to be completed by June 2013). Although many of research papers are written in English, the main working language at RIETI is Japanese: excellent speaking, reading and writing skills of Japanese are required.

In addition, prospects Ph.D. students are required to send or e-mail a letter of recommendation from a professor and experienced applicants are required to send or e-mail the name of referee of research papers.
