The U.S. DOT has a vacant economist position. The staff provides analysis of current and proposed transportation policies, and regulatory actions and recommends changes in those policies based upon that analysis. This requires excellence in research and analysis, communication, and interpersonal working relationships, the ability to apply economic theory and analysis to develop efficient and practical solutions. Areas of focus include benefit-cost analysis , analysis of how to make transportation markets function more efficiently, economic impacts of DOT policies and programs, and economic analysis of alternative transportation infrastructure financing options. We seek economists who have an interest in and preferably knowledge of transportation, as well as expertise relevant to these research areas. These are positions at the GS-9 to GS-12 level with excellent benefits. U.S. citizenship is required. U.S. DOT is an equal opportunity employer.
