The Division of Price and Index Number Research has an opening for a Ph.D. economist. Duties are divided equally between (1) research leading to conference presentations and publications in refereed journals, and (2) consulting and analytical activities that directly support BLS price and expenditure measurement programs: the Consumer Price Index, Producer Price Indexes, Import and Export Price Indexes, and the Consumer Expenditure Survey. Educational field of concentration is less important than the desire and ability to carry out innovative theoretical or econometric analyses.
| Application Instructions: |
Starting salary for a recent Ph.D. ranges from $74,872 to $115,742, depending on experience and research accomplishments. Send a curriculum vita, a recent research paper, and three letters of recommendation to PINR_RECRUIT@bls.gov by December 10, 2012. We will attend the ASSA meetings. U.S. citizenship is required. BLS is an equal opportunity employer. This announcement is independent of other BLS announcements.
