The Department of Economics seeks to hire a health economist for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, with academic tenure. The new hire will conduct theoretical and/or empirical research in the economics of health care, health insurance, or health policy. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses in health economics. The department offers a Ph.D. field in health economics, so substantial advising of Ph.D. students is to be expected. The standard course load is two courses per semester, fall and winter.
Candidates should have a strong background and interest in research and teaching in health economics with a focus on health care, health insurance, or health policy. A Ph.D. in economics or in health services research is required, as are publications of sufficient quantity and quality to qualify for continuing tenure at the associate or full professor level.
