Fannie Mae exists to expand affordable housing and bring global capital to local communities in order to serve the U.S. housing market. Today, our focus is on preventing foreclosures, making mortgages and rental housing as affordable as possible, and supporting the housing recovery. We are rapidly building and realigning our company to better serve the market as we support the Administration's Homeowner Affordability and Stability Plan.

The Underwriting and Pricing Division has an opening for a Ph.D. economist to conduct economic research on public, proprietary, or lender data to assess trends or patterns in lending, borrowing, and the models used by the company to assess risk.

* Strong econometric skills.
* Expert in at least one statistical package. SAS and Matlab preferred.
* Experience in effectively managing very large data sets.
* Creative thinking and strong intellectual curiosity with attention to experimenting different options and ensuring the quality of data and the soundness of the models.
* Excellent presentation and writing skills.
* Ability to work in a team environment, establish and maintain relationships within and across divisions.
