The UQ School of Economics is recognized as one of Australia's leading centres for Research in economics, with a particular focus on economic theory and a prominent role in analysis of public policy issues.
These strengths were recently recognised by the award of an Australian Laureate Fellowship, the most prestigious award available from the Australian Research Council to Professor John Quiggin, to undertake work on the role of bounded rationality and unawareness in the emergence of financial crisis. As part of this award, funding has been provided for the appointment of a Postdoctoral Research Fellow.
The successful appointee will be expected to undertake research in the fields covered by the Laureate Fellowship, including the theory of decision under uncertainty, and the analysis of financial instablity. Research will be undertaken both independently and in collaboration with Professor Quiggin and his colleagues.
Applicants should possess a PhD in Economics or a related field or be close to completion of your PhD thesis.
Ideally you should have prepared papers for publication in quality academic journals and be able to provide copies of the relevant working or discussion papers for evaluation.
This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for five years at Academic level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $70,676 to $75,867 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $82,691 - $88,765 p.a.).
