The Department of Economics at Christopher Newport University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective August 19, 2013. The position requires a doctoral degree in economics or related field (in hand by August 19, 2013), excellent teaching skills, a promising research program, and the ability to contribute to the intellectual life of CNU. Applicants must be committed to undergraduate education and demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching and research with undergraduates. We are seeking a faculty member who will engage students inside and outside the classroom. Individuals who are ABD at the final stage of completion may, at the discretion of the University, be considered for appointment at rank of Instructor.

Preference will be given to candidates with fields and research in environmental or health economics. Teaching responsibilities may include: principles of economics, intermediate micro- and macro-economics, upper-level electives in the candidate's field, and courses in the University's liberal learning curriculum. The teaching load for assistant professors is 3-3. Phi Beta Kappa members are strongly encouraged to apply.
