The Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology at the University of Idaho invites applications for a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position. The position carries a 75/25 percent research/teaching appointment.
The candidate is expected to develop a nationally-recognized research and teaching program focusing on agricultural and food markets, including but not limited to areas of interest such as industrial organization, cooperatives, horizontal and vertical coordination, product differentiation, food safety, food labeling, and traceability. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in agricultural economics based upon educational background, interests, and departmental needs; advise undergraduate and graduate students; publish research in academic peer-reviewed journals; and secure extramural grant funding to support a strong nationally-recognized research program.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, Economics or closely related field by the time of appointment, excellent training in econometrics, microeconomics, and quantitative methods as well as demonstrated excellence in oral, written and interpersonal communication.
