Entry-level Economist, Latin America Economics Group, New York City
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
--Maintaining economic models for Latin American countries under coverage
--Producing research reports and model revisions on a regular basis
--Tracking industry and macro-economic variables and news stories
--Participating in proprietary research projects, which may include survey work, political analysis or ad-hoc modeling
--Attending conference calls with finance ministry and/or central bank for the countries under coverage
--Handling of inbound client and sales person calls regarding these countries. Outbound call responsibility will increase with time and demonstrated knowledge
--Keeping equity and fixed income traders informed of upcoming events, data
--Facilitating communication with colleagues on other teams (both in the US and globally)
--Organizing investor field trips/company meetings and marketing trips
SKILLS NEEDED:
--Competent writing skills: ability to produce clear and concise written English
--Spanish language ability
--Strong work ethic
--Track record of demonstrated accomplishments
--Strong quantitative skills
--Demonstrated analytical skills
--Modeling skills: candidate must demonstrate facility with Excel spreadsheets and advanced statistical analysis
--Strong verbal communication skills
