The Office of Economic Analysis (OEA) in the City and County of San Francisco is seeking a Principal Economist to write and present economic impact reports on pending legislation and major policy issues facing the city. The candidate will be responsible for analyzing how proposed new ordinances would affect the economy, conducting literature reviews and quantitative and qualitative research, and writing and presenting your conclusions to decision-makers and the general public.
San Francisco has a deserved reputation for leadership and innovation in local government. It is also the only major city with an in-house economic analysis group that prepares independent economic impact analysis for significant pieces of pending legislation. Formed in 2006, the OEA has developed a reputation for high-quality independent research that improves public decision-making. Our work has ranged from studies of the impacts of tax incentives on job creation and labor markets, to studies of the impacts of environmental policies.
Desired Skills & Experience
--Graduate training in economics or a closely related field
--7+ years of professional and/or research work in urban economics, or a related specialty: land use and real estate development, fiscal policy, labor, health, transportation, or environmental economics.
