Virginia Tech seeks a head for its Economics Department. Applicants should have an outstanding academic record and international recognition, appropriate for a Full Professor. The Head is responsible for:
-encouraging creativity, scholarship and effective teaching
-increasing the Department's prominence and external funding
-increasing the Department's participation in interdisciplinary programs
-advocating for the Department in the University
-participating in the Department's teaching, research and service
-Fiscal and personnel management
-demonstrating leadership and sensitivity in addressing issues of diversity
-adhering to faculty responsibilities as described in the faculty handbook
