The Human Development and Public Services Team of the Development Research Group (DECHD) is the focal point of the World Bank's research on human development issues, including education, health, labor markets, and safety nets. It examines these sectors in terms of utilization levels and inequalities, quality and outcomes, and methods for assessing and improving performance (via households, providers, policymakers, and donors). Staff are expected to maintain an outstanding scholarly publication record, and to provide relevant policy advice and technical expertise to colleagues throughout the World Bank.
DECHD is seeking at least one economist to join the team with expertise to conduct research in some of the areas listed above. We are considering primarily new PhDs but would be open to receiving applications from more experienced candidates. We seek candidates with (i) strong technical skills; (ii) good prospects for publishing high-quality original research in peer reviewed journals, (iii) the ability to communicate technical knowledge and expertise in a policy environment; and (iv) excellent spoken and written proficiency in English.
