The Foreign Service Institute of the US Department of State seeks a Ph.D. Economist with an outstanding teaching record, a strong interest in innovative curriculum design, and excellent communication skills for the position of International Economist in the Economic and Commercial Studies Division. Incumbent will teach US career diplomats posted domestically and abroad as economic officers charged with advancing and shaping U.S. foreign economic policies. Candidates should have several years of teaching experience at the advanced undergraduate level and applied Master's level with an emphasis on practical applications. Preferred specializations: microeconomics, applied microeconomics for public policy international trade, development economics, energy economics. Work experience involving trade policy, foreign economic policy, economic reform, or development is desirable to the extent it lends credibility in the classroom. Experience living and working abroad is also helpful. Candidate must be a US citizen. The initial term of the appointment is 2-years, which is renewable. Salary range: $89,033-$136,771, and includes standard Federal benefits.
