Due to significant and continuing growth, IMPAQ is seeking a full-time Principal Research Scientist with expertise in conducting program evaluation and policy studies to serve as a senior technical advisor within the Health Program. Individuals should have experience in several of the areas in which IMPAQ currently conducts its work. This includes Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial health insurance programs; aging and long-term care; health plan performance and quality measurement; and/or comparative effectiveness analysis. As a senior member of the Health Program, the individual will be expected to contribute to business development, serve as a senior advisor to project directors and PI's, and mentor IMPAQ's research staff.
Responsibilities:
-Contributing to and advancing IMPAQ's national reputation as a leading health services research firm
-Advising IMPAQ staff on design, execution, and reporting of projects to ensure highest rigor
-Leading technical (econometric modeling/statistics) reviews of health proposals, deliverables
-Conducting program evaluations and policy analysis
-Mentoring staff on research design and execution, particularly in econometrics, statistics, and data analysis
-Writing technical reports and proposals
-Making presentations to clients
-Developing new client relationships and creating new business opportunities.
Knowledge and Experience
-Must have Ph.D. in Economics, Health Policy, Health Services Research, or a related field
-Must have 10-15 years of experience in conducting applied research
-Must be an expert in the areas of health policy, program evaluation, econometric methods, and /or experimental and quasi-experimental design
-Must have experience mentoring staff
-Must have extensive knowledge of one or more of the following areas: Medicare, Medicaid, quality of care, comparative effectiveness, aging, long-term care, or disability
-A track record of publications is a plus.

-Strong quantitative skills, including random assignment evaluation, quasi-experimental design, and mixed method evaluation strategies
-Ability to think strategically about research issues and programs
-Excellent ability to communicate complex technical material, both orally and in writing.
