The Department of Economics at the University of New Mexico (UNM), in collaboration with the University's Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) Center for Health Policy, invites applications for a faculty appointment in Economics in the area of health care economics beginning August 12, 2013. This appointment is a benefits eligible position, at the rank of Assistant Professor, in a probationary position leading to a tenure decision.

Minimum qualifications are a doctoral degree in Economics or a related field (conferred by August 2013) with a demonstrated specialty area in health care economics. The preferred candidate will demonstrate the following:

Potential to develop a successful applied research program enabling the candidate to establish their expertise in the field of health care economics, secure extramural funding, and provide opportunities to mentor graduate students;

Potential excellence in teaching graduate economic theory or econometrics, graduate field courses, and undergraduate economics courses;

Demonstrated linkages to environmental and resource economics, international development and sustainability, or public economics.
