The Graduate School of Economics at Hitotsubashi University invites applications for a 3-year-contract assistant or associate professor position starting on April 1, 2013 or sometime no later than October 1, 2013. Candidates must have completed their Ph.D. or complete it within three months after the time of appointment and should be able to teach in fluent English. Native speakers of English are preferred. Expected teaching responsibilities include Microeconomics and Macroeconomics courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels and tutorial classes for undergraduate students. Teaching load is 16 credit hours (4 courses a year). Candidates for Associate Professor should have a substantial publication record. Candidates at the Assistant Professor level should demonstrate promise for research and teaching excellence. Depending on academic work and teaching, the contract can be renewed once for one more year.

Applications should include (1) a cover letter, (2) curriculum vitae, (3) a list of academic works indicating if they are published in refereed journals, (4) at least two reference letters, (5) certificate of Ph.D. degree, and (6) reprints or copies of at most five research papers. Reference letters for a candidate without (5) should explain the state of the Ph.D. thesis to show that the candidate will complete the Ph.D. within three months after the time of appointment. The application package should reach the Graduate School of Economics, Hitotsubashi University by December 3, 2012. The selection process consists of two stages: 1) document screening, and 2) interviews (We will set interviews at the AEA annual meeting in San Diego on January 4-6, 2013).
