The Institute of Public Health is seeking a faculty member to join the core faculty in the area of Health Management and Policy. The ideal candidate will have expertise in the areas of health economics, health services research, health policy and health disparities research, to build upon the 2011 arrival of the Atlanta Census Research Data Center (ACRDC). The ACRDC is jointly sponsored by the U.S. Census Bureau and a consortium of area institutions led by Georgia State. The ACRDC will provide secured access to approved GSU faculty/projects not only for use of protected economic and demographic data, but also for protected data (e.g., detailed household location) matched to federal public use health surveys. The applicant will conduct research on health policy, health disparities, and risky behaviors using data available through the ACRDC, enhancing the research reputation of the University, increasing external funding, and fueling further ACRDC research across campus. This position is part of Georgia State University's Second Century Initiative, a five-year initiative to recruit 100 new scholars to the university to focus on priority research areas. This position is focused on the analysis of census and other data to better understand health behaviors and their determinants and is being conducted in conjunction with the university's Departments of Economics and Sociology.

The ideal candidate will have an earned doctorate in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Services, Economics, Medical Sociology, Public Policy or other disciplines related to health economic and health services research. Applicants should have advanced analytical and research skills and a strong record of independent or collaborative research with extramural funding support. A focus on health policy, health disparities, and risky behaviors and public health is preferred. Candidates must be must be a Full Professor or Associate Professor currently and tenure eligible. They must have demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and developing a research program in one or more of the aforementioned areas, as well as the ability to contribute to the University and profession through service activities.
