The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. or equivalent by date of hire preferably in the social sciences, with a specialization in one of the following fields: agricultural and resource economics, environmental economics, energy economics, economic sociology, public policy, political economy, economic geography, economic history, institutional economics, and/or the intersection of these disciplines with other fields. She or he will have an outstanding research record and evidence of ongoing research productivity, and a deep commitment to teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate level. Willingness to work collaboratively with faculty and to mentor students from a wide range of disciplines and academic backgrounds is essential. ERG especially encourages applicants with a strong interest in multiple scales of analysis from the local to the global, and in the historical foundations of disciplinary and interdisciplinary analysis.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach a core course at the upper-division undergraduate level with the broad theme of 'economics and society'. She or he will also have the opportunity to develop graduate courses and seminars in her/his area of specialization. ERG seeks candidates whose research, teaching or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education.
