The Urban Institute is a nationally recognized, nonprofit, nonpartisan social and economic policy research organization located in Washington DC, convenient to public transportation, shopping, restaurants and other amenities. We currently have opportunities for Research Associates in our research centers. All positions have responsibilities that include conducting empirical studies, developing economic models, and writing and presenting reports orally to academic and policy audiences in regards to policy research related to poverty dynamics, employment and training, work/family issues, labor markets, retirement, tax policy, housing, community and economic development, immigration, demography, public health, education, child welfare, criminal justice and international activities. Positions require a PhD or equivalent in economics, public policy, or related field. All require strong quantitative skills and experience using micro-level databases.
