Weber State University is a public, open enrollment, urban university located 35 miles north of Salt Lake City at the base of the Wasatch Mountains. The University has a total Fall 2012 enrollment of over 24,000 students who are predominantly from the five-county Northern Utah region. However, a high percentage of economics majors are currently international students. WSU has recently made a concerted effort to emphasize both undergraduate research and community engagement.
The Department of Economics at Weber State University invites applications for two tenure track positions at the rank of assistant professor beginning fall of 2013.
These positions offer a competitive salary and 3/3 teaching load, as well as research support. Teaching responsibilities will include upper- and lower level economics courses, as well as quantitative methods courses in business statistics and/or business calculus. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic teacher who maintains an active research agenda, has the potential or demonstrated success publishing in peer reviewed journals, mentors undergraduate research projects and recruits economics majors. A Ph.D. in economics by July 1, 2013 is required.
Weber state University opposes unlawful discrimination and supports affirmative action. The University has a strong commitment to the principles of diversity. In that spirit, we are interested in receiving applications from a broad spectrum of people, including dual-career couples.
