The Department of Economics invites applications for full-time untenured positions at the rank of Lecturer. We are seeking outstanding teachers with a record of excellence in the classroom who can successfully teach large sections (300 or more students) of Introductory and Intermediate, Microeconomics or Macroeconomics. The Department offers a Ph.D. degree, a professional Masters degree (MSPE), and an undergraduate degree (BA). For more information about the Department, see http://www.economics.illinois.edu.
The target starting term is August 16, 2013. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience. The initial appointment will be for one-year. The appointment may then be renewed by the Department annually for subsequent years based on funding and strong performance reviews.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. and have a minimum of two years of full-time economics teaching experience at the college level. Applicants need to submit a letter of interest, a curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching effectiveness (which may include a teaching statement examples of innovative teaching practices, teaching evaluations, etc.) and the contact information for three references on teaching accomplishments. The teaching statement should include evidence that the applicant has been or would be a successful instructor in large sections.
