The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF) for a 2 year, fixed term, renewable appointment for its Environment and Production Technology Division. This position is based in Washington, D.C. but may involve significant international travel.
Duties:
--Conducting research and analysis related to simulating crop growth and production at country, regional, and global scales using crop systems models.
--Coordinating research with other biophysical modeling and spatial analysis activities within IFPRI
--Developing and managing large spatial crop model input and output datasets using GIS and relational database management systems
--Maintaining a high level of research output for publication outlets both within IFPRI, and peer-reviewed journals
--Creating linkages to possible external crop modeling collaborators and research groups
--Communicating research and data to a stakeholders.
Requirements:
--PhD in Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, or related field
--Understanding of agronomy, including soil science, crop physiology, and crop management practices
--Research experience in mathematical and process-based modeling of cropping systems
--Proficiency in programming using Java or C++
--Proficiency in managing large datasets using relational database management system
--Excellent written and spoken English communication
--Willingness to travel extensively
