The Program in Economics and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University is seeking a scholar with demonstrated teaching and research interests in applied microeconomics, with a focus on quantitative analysis and evaluation of education projects. This is an open rank search, although we are particularly interested in recruiting an established scholar who can play a leadership role in our program. The Economics and Education Program is housed in the Department of Education Policy and Social Analysis (EPSA), which also includes the programs in Politics and Education, Sociology and Education, and an interdisciplinary program in Education Policy. EPSA is the first new department created at Teachers College in 16 years and was designed to promote collaboration among social scientists studying educational policy at the governmental and institutional levels. The successful candidate will teach graduate courses in economics but will also be expected to work collegially with other programs and to find and build upon common research and intellectual interests.

Responsibilities: Teach graduate courses in economics and education and applied microeconomics. Maintain an active research and publications profile. Advise masters and doctoral students, and participate in program administration and development activities.

Qualifications: Earned doctorate in economics, education, or related field; evidence of scholarly accomplishments and likelihood of future productivity; a minimum of two years of teaching and/or research experience. Strong statistical research skills are required. Experience with randomized experimental trials and/or causal econometric methods will be a plus. The appointee should have, or be willing to develop, an interest in the economics of education as applied to other nations.
