Full Text of JOE Listing:
CBO, a small nonpartisan agency that provides Congress with the objective, timely analyses needed for economic and budgetary decisions, seeks economists who have a broad range of policy interests. Both junior- and senior-level candidates will be considered. All positions require excellent quantitative skills and strong writing ability.

Macroeconomist with interests in public finance and fiscal policy. Experience in building general equilibrium models and analyzing the effects of fiscal policy is a plus as is familiarity with micro data.

International Macroeconomist with particular expertise in international trade and finance. Special consideration will be given to applicants with strong econometric skills, knowledge of international financial markets, and experience in analyzing movements in exchange rates, capital flows, and trade deficits.

Financial Economist to develop valuation models and conduct economic and policy analyses of federal and private-sector financial activities. Specialty in asset pricing, derivatives valuation and/or financial econometrics would be helpful. Experience with the estimation of econometric models, Monte Carlo simulation techniques, and the numerical solution of dynamic stochastic optimization problems will be highly regarded.

Financial Modeler for a limited term to support research and policy analyses of federal and private financial activity. Applicants should have training in derivative pricing, financial valuation, and econometric techniques.

CBO analysts address challenging substantive issues in economics and public policy while working in a collegial environment that provides opportunities for research on numerous topics relevant to the agency's endeavors.

Successful candidates will contribute to the full range of their division's responsibilities by constructing and improving cutting-edge models that underlie CBO's policy analyses and preparing longer-term CBO studies, shorter-term memoranda, and testimonies.
