The Graduate School of Economics at Hitotsubashi University invites applications for either a tenure-track assistant professor position or a 3-year-contract assistant professor position starting on October 1, 2013 or April 1, 2014. We are interested in candidates with research interests in financial econometrics, financial engineering or econometrics. Candidates must have completed their Ph.D. or complete it within three months after the time of appointment. The successful candidate will mainly teach Financial Econometrics in Japanese at the School of Economics, Hitotsubashi University. The term of the initial contract of a tenure-track assistant professor is three years and, depending on academic work, the contract can be renewed once for two more years. The tenure decision will be made within the five years on the basis of academic work such as publications in refereed journals. If candidates have sufficient academic work, however, the appointment can be as a tenured associate professor.

Applications should include (1) a cover letter indicating position (a 3-year contract assistant professor position, a tenure-track assistant professor position or a tenured associate professor position), (2) curriculum vitae, (3) a list of academic works indicating if they are published in refereed journals, (4) at least two reference letters, (5) certificate of Ph.D. degree, and (6) reprints or copies of at most five research papers. Reference letters for a candidate without (5) should explain the state of the Ph.D. thesis to show that the candidate will complete the Ph.D. within three months after the time of appointment.
