The Monetary Policy Research Division of the ECB is interested in hiring
experienced or recent PhDs in economics.
Successful candidates will be expected to conduct and publish high-quality
research. In particular, the division carries out research into: monetary
policy rules and optimal monetary policy; interaction between monetary and
fiscal policy; macro models with financial frictions; expectations and
learning; time series models; competitiveness and trade; international
macro and finance; consumer finance and behaviour; structural, sectoral
and regional analyses. The division also develops, maintains and uses
macroeconometric models for forecasting and policy analyses.
Economists also contribute to other responsibilities of the Directorate
General, in particular advising on policy. This may entail the development
of conceptual frameworks or the preparation of analytical operational
tools, possibly in collaboration with competent policy areas of the ECB.
