The FDA anticipates openings for economists at the junior level (salary range: $74,872 - $115,742) and at the senior level (salary range: $105,211 to $136,771). The positions are located in the Economics Staff, Office of Planning in the Office of the Commissioner, and cover agency responsibilities for drugs, medical devices, and tobacco. We welcome all candidates with expertise in applied microeconomics, such as health, labor, demography, development, industrial organization, welfare economics, and international trade.
Duties include conducting cost-benefit analyses of regulations and agency policies; other quantitative, statistical, and risk analyses; and mission related economic research. Successful candidates must be able to write and speak clearly to groups of different sizes and backgrounds, and to work both independently and on multi-disciplinary teams. U.S. citizenship is required.
