TCH seeks a economist/financial markets expert to provide support to the Chief Economist/management/owner banks.Economist will conduct/manage research quantifying the impact of changes in regulatory policy on financial markets/economy. Issues:
-importance of banks to the economy and impacts of limiting types of activities able to engage in
-size/scope/complexity of bank holding companies
-market impact of increasing liquidity/capital requirements
-ex ante/ex post incentives of resolution/recovery planning of banks
-regulation of prices for banking/payment services
-the importance/regulation of market infrastructures such as clearing houses
-role of gov't in housing markets
-conduct empirical research and present at conferences and to regulators
-summarize financial market research findings for staff/member banks
-represent the conclusions/recommendations on bank regulation matters at meetings with agencies/institutions/media
-analysis of issues important to member banks,emphasis on large commercial banks/capital/liquidity/regulations aimed at increasing financial stability but impact the economy
-plan/lead meetings/conference calls/position papers/talking points/communications for regulators and coordinate post-comment letter advocacy efforts with regulators/institutions/media
-development/implementation of a effective advocacy presence/platform for Finance, including outreach regulators/trade associations
-planning/coordinating research events
-report advocacy initiatives correctly/completely for purposes of newsletter/board materials/executive briefing decks
-financial market/regulatory experience and sound command of how financial services industry functions
-strong academic credentials,excellent written,verbal/interpersonal skills
-strong organizational/decision-making/critical thinking skills/multi-tasking
-4-5 years relevant private or public sector financial services industry experience
-Masters degree required;Ph.D. preferred
