The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is seeking to fill one or more positions for Economists and/or Senior Economists in its Office of Research. The Office of Research is an interdisciplinary group of economists and other behavioral researchers that work on a wide range of topics in consumer decision making, household financial behavior, and consumer financial firms and markets.

Economists in the CFPB’s Office of Research will carry out mission-driven research and work collaboratively with other offices within the CFPB and provide analytic support in the areas of policy development, regulations, consumer education and engagement, and bank and non-bank supervision and enforcement. Economists also have the opportunity to conduct self-directed research (approximately 50%). We are seeking innovative candidates with a strong research focus and an interest in working with diverse teams of researchers, industry practitioners, attorneys, and others.
