The Center for Disability Research (CDR) at the Liberty Mutual Research Institute in Hopkinton, MA and the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) are seeking applicants for a two-year postdoctoral position in health services research. This is a fully-funded, joint appointment based at the HSPH, involving faculty at both locations. We are also accepting applicants through a similar program based at the University of Massachusetts / Lowell, in collaboration with their epidemiology faculty.
The fellow will design and implement original studies at the CDR related to understanding and preventing work disability, conduct data analyses, and prepare first-authored scientific publications. The research focus is on the role of health care in work disability outcomes, through analysis of our extensive, longitudinal medical claims and disability data - an area where we have had considerable success in pursuing innovative approaches to answer important research questions. After completion of the program, transition to a full-time faculty-level position here is possible.
The CDR mission is to conduct applied research on causes, consequences, and prevention of work disability. The Institute is an independent organization dedicated to improving scientific knowledge in injury and disability prevention; all research activities are fully-funded internally, and all results appear in the peer-reviewed scientific literature. The Harvard School of Public Health is a world-renown leader in public health research and policy.
Requirements include relevant training, health services research experience, and an innovative project proposal(or series of projects) developed in collaboration with our investigators. Completion of a PhD is required before starting the program.
