WSDOT has a mission to keep business and people moving and be accountable to the public. Part of being a financial guardian of funds, WSDOT must comprise unbiased and reliable long-term transportation revenue forecasts. We hire expert economists with knowledge of econometric forecasting and other economic analysis. WSDOT offers employees a friendly work environment in Washington's beautiful capital, Olympia.

We are seeking a Transportation Economist to serve as a project lead in forecasting fuel consumption, taxes and fuel prices. Econometric modeling is the primary focus of this position but assistance may be needed in other areas like economic impact, cost-benefit analysis and special transportation studies. Critical parts of this position will be creating creditable forecasts as well as communicating the forecast results to non-technical audiences orally and in writing.

Basic Qualifications
*Economics or related field with training in economics and in particular forecasting
*At least two years of experience in private consulting, government, or academic research
*Effective verbal and written communication skills
*Master's or higher degree preferred.
*Expert level experience in SAS programming or other econometric software
