The Office of Policy Analysis at the Department of the Interior anticipates hiring a natural resource economist with a solid quantitative background and proficiency in verbal and written communication. The position involves working on energy and natural resource issues. A formal job announcement on USAJobs will be posted in the near future.
This position is part of a team of experienced resource economists providing analysis to the Secretary, the Deputy Secretary, and Assistant Secretaries. Team members initiate, develop, conduct, and participate in multidisciplinary economic and statistical analyses related to natural resources and the environment. The Office frequently extends and applies economic and financial analysis techniques to selected natural resource and environmental issues. The Office also evaluates studies for adequacy of methods and relevance to policy, and advise senior specialists regarding study conduct, results, and policy implications. You must maintain up-to-date knowledge and capabilities in natural resource and energy issues, to serve as an advisor to policy officials.
This is a high visibility position with the potential to be involved in current policy issues and related research. Depending upon a candidate's qualifications, this position can be filled at GS 9/11/12/13 levels.
