BBVA Research is looking for an economist to focus on rigorous and relevant analysis to guide BBVA strategic decisions in the United States.
Essential Functions:
Develop (or assist with the development of) robust economic and statistical models to support business decisions.
Prepare communication releases and presentations for BBVA stakeholders with a forward looking and strategic approach.
Collaborate with members of BBVA Research in other countries.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Required:
Masters or PhD Degree in Economics.
Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant work experience in applied economic analysis/research and/or financial sector.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Required skills include:
Strong analytical competence; not just answering the questions right but also asking the right questions.
Advance knowledge of business and statistical software applications.
Excellent written and oral communication in English. Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
Ability to:
Adapt to changing working conditions and a wide variety of projects.
Work in a team environment and under pressure.
Deal with complex situations, and provide creative and innovative solutions.
Optimize cultural differences for better and more creative solutions.
Follow appropriate statistical principles and methods as needed; ensuring that subsequent analysis is valid and avoids bias.
Successful candidates will be offered a Jr./Sr./Principal Economist position, depending on the individual's competencies.
