The Bureau of Economic Geology (BEG), The University of Texas at Austin is recruiting for a Ph.D. in environmental/resource economics, or related field. This position will be based in Austin.
The position will address economic issues related to water and environmental resources in Texas. Projects this individual would contribute to include: effects of water shortages related to drought on the Texas economy; economic issues related to water and energy linkages (power/oil & gas production); or economic impacts of environmental flow allocations. The individual would have the opportunity to interact with BEG's Center for Energy Economics group in Houston, who are conducting modeling on economic impacts of energy and environmental policies. The successful candidate will work with hydrologists, climate scientists, energy researchers, and economists, and provide input to hydrology, economic, and energy modeling.
Focus on applied environmental analysis such as risk assessment, life cycle and/or cost-benefit analyses is preferred; experience working with environmental regulators, consultancies or energy companies is desirable.
