Work involves the creative leadership and management of the Army extramural basic research program in social science to create future Army capabilities, to advance innovation by embracing long-term high-risk, high-payoff research opportunities, to realize new discoveries by identifying, enabling, guiding, facilitating, and exploiting novel opportunities revealed by fundamental basic research, and to originate new Army capabilities and technologies by transitioning the results of basic research to Army applications. The individual will have scientific and research credibility in a social science field such as economics, sociology, anthropology, or psychology, and demonstrated research planning, management, and execution skills, as evidenced by recent peer reviewed and cited articles, with first or last authorship. He or she will have demonstrated ability to critically evaluate a wide range of scientific ideas, proposals, projects, data, results, and conclusions. Excellent written and oral communication skills and U.S. citizenship are required. This is a permanent full-time position located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
