The Health Economics Resource Center (HERC) and the Center for Health Care Evaluation (CHCE) seek an economist to join our team in developing and evaluating innovations to improve the value of care. A Ph.D. in economics or a related discipline is required.
The strongest candidate will have experience using econometrics to analyze large datasets, an understanding of health organizations, and prior publications. The economist is expected to develop an independent research agenda, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and collaborate with the VA Quality Enhancement Research Initiative (QUERI) and with clinicians and managers in helping VA to provide high-value cost-effective health care. HERC economists draw on an experienced support staff and use a state of the art computer system that includes comprehensive data on care provided in one of the nation's largest health care systems.
